The last night of a cruise is often bittersweet — but disembarkation day doesn't have to be stressful. Here's what to expect when your ship returns to Southampton.
The Night Before
You'll receive disembarkation information from the ship — typically 2-3 days before arrival. This will include your disembarkation time, luggage tag colour (which determines when your bags are removed from your cabin), and instructions for the morning.
Put your main cases outside your cabin door by midnight (as instructed) — they'll be collected and taken to the terminal while you sleep.
Disembarkation Morning
Southampton ships typically arrive back between 6am and 8am. The ship is cleared by border force before passengers can disembark. Early disembarkation (self-assist, where you carry your own cases) typically starts around 7:30am.
Standard disembarkation (by colour group) runs from approximately 8:00am to 10:30am. You'll be called by the colour of your luggage tags.
Collecting Your Luggage
Your cases will be in the terminal, arranged by tag colour, when you disembark. Allow 15-30 minutes to locate and collect your cases.
Your Onward Transfer
This is where pre-booked transfers pay off. On a busy turnaround morning, hundreds of taxis, coaches, and private cars are all arriving simultaneously. Having a pre-booked driver waiting means you can walk straight out and leave.
