P&O Cruises Southampton: Your Complete Transfer Guide

7 min read·20 February 2026

Everything P&O Cruises passengers need to know about getting to Southampton Port — which terminal, arrival times, luggage, and parking.

P&O Cruises is the UK's largest cruise line and Southampton is its home port. If you're sailing on Iona, Arvia, Britannia, Aurora, or Arcadia, here's everything you need to know about getting to the port.

Which Terminal Does P&O Use?

P&O Cruises uses both the Mayflower Terminal (Western Docks) and Ocean Terminal (Western Docks) depending on the ship. Iona and Arvia — P&O's two largest ships — typically use Ocean Terminal. Britannia, Aurora, and Arcadia use Mayflower Terminal.

Always check your e-ticket, as terminal assignments can change.

What Time Should You Arrive?

P&O embarkation typically opens at 11:00am for suite/select passengers and 12:00pm-3:00pm for others. Your e-ticket will have a specific check-in time allocated. We recommend arriving 30 minutes before your allocated slot.

Don't arrive too early — the terminal won't be ready and you'll be waiting outside with your bags.

Luggage Tips

P&O allows 2 cases per person (23kg each for most fares). Your driver will help load and unload. At the terminal, porters will take your cases from the vehicle — tip expected is around £1-2 per bag.

Keep your carry-on with any valuables, medication, and documents — your main cases won't reach your cabin until late afternoon.

Parking at the Port

Official parking is available through CPS (Cruise & Passenger Services) — book in advance through P&O or CPS directly. Prices range from £15-25 per day depending on lead time. Many passengers prefer to take a taxi and save the parking cost entirely.

Why Use Southampton Taxi Service for P&O Transfers

We've been transferring P&O passengers for years. We know both Western Docks terminals inside out — exactly where the drop-off points are, how the queuing works, and how to get you in and out quickly.
